I've been playing guitar since I was 16. I started off by taking a few lessons and trying to work out songs by listening to records.?
Like a lot of guitarists I learnt to play on an old classical guitar that someone had strung with steel strings - it wouldn't tune up and the action was at least an inch off the fingerboard!
I got into bands while at school and eventually started playing in various classic (i.e. dodgy) London venues that aren't there any more - The George Robey Finsbury Park, Hammersmith Clarendon Hotel, Red Lion Brentford, The Bull & Gate Kentish Town and The Mean Fiddler in Harlesden to name just a few.
In 1992 I studied at the Guitar Institute in Acton Vale for a year and did lots more gigs, but like most people I never made any money and eventually I took a few years off from music to pursue other careers.
Then five years ago I felt the urge to get out and play again, so I finally bought a guitar I've always wanted - a Fender Tele - and started gigging again, this time in and around Cambridgeshire.
